History

Built in the mid 1700s, the Iron Master's Mansion is a lovely reminder of the glory days of the iron forge plantations. Purchased by Caernarvon Township in 2005 to provide a park for the community and to preserve this very special historic site, Poole Forge is a Lancaster County treasure. The restoration and preservation of the property is now under the auspices of a nonprofit organization, Historic Poole Forge, Inc. Designed to educate the public and showcase the lovely original buildings, this unique park will also provide a variety of facilities for community use. Historic Poole Forge is an entirely volunteer organization. The hours and energy spent by volunteers has been astounding. In this first year much has already been accomplished.
